      The first years' weekend of my student's association was quite different than I had expected, but I had a good time most of the time! It was certainly a good experience. And my exam the day after it went well, too. :D

      I thought one would be able to get a decent GPU for about €50, but it looks like I was mistaken... I can't check what we have, as I just left my parental home, but I thought it cost about that much, and it was bought 7 years ago.

        You can change the fan curve using MSI Afterburner (even if it's not an MSI card) (google it), but do watch the temperatures, as it shouldn't get to hot. How hot it can/should be depends on the card, also try googling that. :P

        Yeah, my sister pointed out that it was strange that the fan was blowing loudly while it wasn't connected. Maybe when it does get connected, the fan will be off most of the time! We haven't got the right cable, though. The monitor is quite old and doesn't have HDMI in, and the converters we got weren't working.

        Oh, that explains your issue. Yes, if it doesn't have a momitor output, it migjt run the fans at 100% speed. :P

      I organised a soundtrack (pub) quiz, and it seems that it was quite well received! :D A lot of people came, and they had a good time. There was also a clear difference in knowledge between the teams.

      This week I have to travel to several places in Utrecht I haven't been to before. Cool! :D Inconvenient that my GPS just gave up. It won't stay on for more than a few seconds anymore, I tried three sets of batteries, all of which work in my Wiimote.

        I met a girl who has a recent smartphone and she claims that her phone does not have a positioning system at all, unless she turns on mobile data. Then again, she might be mistaken, as she also believed that she couldn't use mobile data at all, as she uses prepaid, and for some reason she thought that you can't access the internet on prepaid.

        That's partially true. Unless you download the section of map you're in on Google Maps, you do need to use mobile data/wi-fi to see where you are.

      Got another laptop, audio and video were bad. Got the one I had again, couldn't restore backup. Got everything reinstalled manually. Crashes again. I'm a bit fed up. Maybe I should get a desktop after all. But I think I will need a laptop for my Master's degree. :/

      So the laptop I had started malfunctioning after two years. I paid to get it repaired, but it didn't work. Then I bought a new laptop. It crashed frequently, and I had to return it. Now that laptop model (which, besides the crashes, was what I wanted) is out of stock. UGH

      The new laptop that I got has a dedicated Pause Brk key but Insert is a secondary function of the Delete key. My sister's laptop's keyboard has the same layout. I feel like this might originally have been a joke that nobody vetoed in time.
